The Angels first-round pick in the 2023 Draft is already ready to make an impact with the team.

Drafted out of Florida Atlantic University, Nolan Schanuel wants to make the jump to the MLB as soon as he can.

Schanuel is not crazy for thinking that is possible. The Angels have called up multiple players this season that were selected in the draft just last year.

The 11th overall selection in this year's draft would join Zach Neto and Ben Joyce as Angels who have been in the big leagues less than a year after they were drafted.

“This has been a lifelong dream of mine,” Schanuel said. “And to be able to be in the Angels organization now has just made that dream 10 times better. I mean, I’m so excited, I’m ready to go, I’m ready to fly out today.”

“I want to be right there with Zach Neto, Ben Joyce, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani,” Schanuel said. “I want to be a teammate of theirs and get going.” (via LA Times)

In his three season at FAU, Schanuel was the leader of the Owls. In his college career, the 21-year old hit .385 with 46 home runs and 176 RBIs.

This season he was named the Conference USA Player of the Year and was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award.

Schanuel will first head to the minors as a first baseman, but the Angels plan on transitioning him into an outfielder.

With the stereotype that college players make the majors faster, Schanuel could be with the Halos before you know it.
